Watch Videos

I recently visited the Ohio Bird Sanctuary.   This is a compilation of short videos I shot.  I want to return because I can make them better.  I need to get closer to the cage wire as I did in the Barred Owl shot.  I used a telephoto lens and the cage disappears as you get closer.  I also need to mount my camera on a tripod not a monopod.  I could not hold it still enough on the monopod.

You will need Windows Media Player to view this.  If you do not have it, you can download it at Microsoft.com

The Best of Gorman Nature Center is a slide show of images captured over a period of 5 years or more.  The musical accompaniment is by Craig Duncan with his kind permission.

My second visit to OBS (Ohio Bird Sanctuary) yielded better video.  The cage screen was still a little of a problem.  An assistance could have held a shield to block the sky reflections on the top of the wire.  We had no shield nor assistant.  That said the product show improvement.  What do you think?

We had a visit by Bufflehaed Ducks at Gorman recently.  I was interested to watch their feeding.  They are diving ducks.  According to the maps in the Audubon Field Guide, they winter south of Mansfield and on both coasts.  They summer in Canada.

I have always liked machines.  I grew up on a farm and operated equipment from an early age.  I chose music for which I could not get permission initially for these slides.  I learned about "royalty free" music and not have very nice music to go with it.

We had "Airport Day" at Mansfield Lahm Airport on Saturday, July 2.  I filmed this tanker coming in the day before.

This is my first effort at time lapse photography.

This is my second effort at time lapse.  It is not an outstanding sky.  I missed all the exciting light while I set up.

This is my third effort at time-lapse.  If you watch carefully, you will see an Alfred Hitchcock-esque appearance by yours truly.

I really like this one.  I worked hours to salvage it because I had a dirty sensor.

The clouds were obviously in layers.  The high layer, above the contrails, was moving one way.  The low layer, below the contrails, was moving another.

"Bench, Pond, Steam" has been a favorite for several years.  This autumn I happened on similar conditons at the pond one morning.  I really worked the scene, including a time-lapse video done the next day in similar conditions.

You can see the clouds moving in two different directions.

Eulalia Grass:  I think these are simply beautiful, whether blowing in the wind or standing still.

I like the wavy background that the Little Bluestem provides for the single Goldenrod.

Enargite:  This is an ore of copper.  I found it in a bucket of tumbler rocks I bought at the local Lithic and Lapidary Society yearly show.  Hope you like it/

I have been noticing that the angle at which I look at the little bluestem grass seems to affect the color I see.  I am hypothisizing that angle at which the light hits the stem causes the color I see.

This is a most interesting rock.  I think that sometimes seeing it rotate may be the best way to share it with you.  I sounds are my own recording of the stream at Gorman Nature Center.

This may be a volcanic rock.  It seems to have characteristics like those of Breccia.  I made this video to show all sides of it.
